Oreo Ice Cream Panda Parfait

Oreo Ice Cream Panda Parfait

Recipe by nana pastriesCourse: DessertDifficulty: Easy

Recreating the Panda Parfait from the anime Shirokuma Cafe. With vanilla and oreo ice cream~

Ingredients

  • Parfait
  • Vanilla ice cream

  • Chocolate ice cream

  • Crushed Oreos

  • Black food coloring

  • Decoration:
  • Dark Chocolate

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

  • ½ tbsp powdered sugar

  • Green food coloring or matcha powder

  • Matcha Pockys

Instructions

  • Prepare Oreo Ice Cream:
  • Combine chocolate ice cream with crushed Oreos. You can crush Oreos by placing them in a Ziploc bag and using a rolling pin or a food processor.
  • Add a drop of black edible gel coloring to achieve a dark, Oreo-like color. If you prefer, you can use vanilla ice cream just add cocoa powder to help darken the color, reducing the need for excessive food coloring.
  • Prepare the Panda’s face:
  • Scoop vanilla ice cream with a large ice cream scoop and place it in the freezer. This method helps maintain its shape and makes it easier to handle without melting while assembling the parfait. Trust me, I’ve been there, it’s not fun!
  • Layering the Parfait:
  • Take a milkshake glass and add a layer of the Oreo ice cream mixture. If any ice cream smudges the sides of the glass, clean them with a paper towel. Place the glass in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  • Add a layer of vanilla ice cream on top of the Oreo layer. Clean the glass again and return it to the freezer for another 15 minutes.
  • Finish with another layer of the Oreo ice cream mixture. Keep the glass in the freezer until ready to assemble the parfait. This helps prevent melting.
  • Preparing Panda Decorations:
  • Melt dark chocolate and place it in a pastry bag or a Ziploc bag with a small corner cut off. Pipe out shapes for the panda’s ears, eyes, and nose onto wax or parchment paper. Place in the freezer to set.
  • Whipped Cream:
  • In a medium mixing bowl, beat cold heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Separate half of the whipped cream into another bowl. Add matcha powder or green food coloring to the remaining half to create green whipped cream. Transfer both whipped creams into separate pastry bags.
  • Assembling the Parfait:
  • Remove the milkshake glass from the freezer. Decorate the outer surface of the glass with alternating dollops of white and green whipped cream.
  • Place a large scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the parfait. The pre-frozen scoop helps maintain its shape and prevents it from melting too quickly.
  • Add the dark chocolate panda ears, eyes, and nose onto the vanilla scoop to create the panda’s face.
  • Finally, insert two Matcha Pockys into the parfait to serve as the panda’s bamboo shoots and enjoy!~

  • Try to keep everything in the freezer as long as possible before assembling (especially if it’s a hot day), I had a failed attempt where everything melted before I finished recording, it was still delicious but not as adorable~
